📢 Filmmaking Summer Intensive is a 6-week workshop that puts you right in the middle of film production from beginning to end. The Summer Intensive is a comprehensive six-week course designed with the aim of empowering writers, actors, and filmmakers. During this course, participants will be taken through a detailed, step-by-step process that will enhance their understanding of what it takes to produce their independent creative works. This rigorous journey of learning covers the various stages involved in production, providing a deep dive into the intricacies of independent work creation. By the end of the course, participants will be equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills to effectively bring their unique visions to life. Applewood Productions, a film and theatrical production house based in Dallas, focuses on innovating artistic identities and helping emerging filmmakers, storytellers, and actors get their work to the big screen. This workshop will take artists through the process of laser focusing in 4 sessions with the goal of producing their work into a fully realized film. Writing: The first 2 weeks will allow writers to dive deep into the writing process, from ideation to pitching. At the end of the final session, there will be an opportunity to pitch your film to be produced by Applewood Productions and partners of the intensive, like Iconic x Design. The winning film will be selected to continue through the process. 08/03 08/04 08/10 08/11 Acting: The following 2 weeks will focus on helping actors find their own voice while learning industry standards. This foundational acting intensive, taught by industry professional Shakei Brown from Hollywood, will allow actors to engage with narrative film and learn how to book roles. Each actor will then get the opportunity to audition for the film itself. 08/17 08/18 08/24 08/25 Film-making: The last 2 weeks and final 4 sessions will center around filmmaking. The winning work and selected actors will join our film team to produce the original work. Each attendee will be able to follow along on set while we create an inspiring work of art. Each department of the film crew will provide industry tips and guide the attendees through the process. 08/30 08/31 09/01 09/07 We will also be offering Q&A sessions during the filmmaking process to ensure all participants walk away feeling empowered to start their own film.
